Meanwhile, Mooch manages to return to Ben to tell him where his mammalian agents are, but Darwin escapes with Hurley before he can arrive to collect them. Trapped in the store's pet rodent display case, G-Force meets Hurley, a laid-back guinea pig, Bucky, an irascible hamster, and three sycophantic mice.Īlthough Blaster and Juarez manage to get themselves sold to a family with plans to return to extract their comrades, Speckles' own attempt to escape by playing dead ends disastrously when he is thrown into and supposedly crushed in a garbage truck. With the help of their human compatriots, Darwin, Juarez, Blaster, Mooch and Speckles escape with hopes of stopping Saber's scheme, but find themselves in a pet carrying case bound for a pet shop. However, when Ben's superior arrives for his evaluation, his astonishment at the team's capabilities and technology is overcome by his indignation at Ben's unauthorized mission and the fact that the downloaded intelligence appears to be useless information about Saber's coffee makers.Īs a result, the government agent orders the unit shut down, the equipment seized and the animals to be used as experimental subjects to be killed. The team is able to retrieve sensitive information about a sinister scheme that is set to occur in 48 hours. The unit's leader Ben, orders an unauthorised infiltration of the residence of home electronics and appliances magnate, Leonard Saber, the owner of Saberling Technology, who has been under FBI investigation. The primary field team consists of guinea pigs Darwin (team leader), Juarez (martial arts) & Blaster (weapons/transportation), star-nosed mole Speckles (cyber intelligence) and fly Mooch (reconnaissance). The film revolves around a special team of trained secret agent animals, equipped with advanced tools that allows the mammalian members to talk to humans. This is also Jerry Bruckheimer's first 3-D film.ĭespite the film received negative reviews from critics and is considered to be the one of the worst films ever made, it is a box office success, grossing $292.8 million worldwide against its $150 million budget. The film was shown in competing 3-D technologies like Dolby 3D. The movie is based on a story also by Hoyt Yeatman and David P.I. It was released in the United States on July 24, 2009. The film stars an ensemble cast includes Sam Rockwell, Zach Galifianakis, Bill Nighy, Nicolas Cage, Penélope Cruz, Kelli Garner, Jon Favreau, Tracy Morgan, Tyler Patrick Jones, Steve Buscemi, and Will Arnett, and follows on Darwin and his team of specially trained rodents who attempts to find a way to break out and prevent a worldwide virus from taking over the world. Written by Cormac Wibberley and Marianne Wibberley and directed by Hoyt Yeatman, the film is the directorial debut of Hoyt Yeatman (whose having earlier worked in the area of visual effects alongside co-founding Dream Quest Images). Production G-Force is a 2009 American 3D spy adventure comedy film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. The CS‑80 V4 looks fresher and more like the original, and it sounds it too. The Global settings also reveal the addition of MPE compatibility, which is very welcome. This contains three new modulation generators plus a modulation mixer three assignable destinations for each of velocity, aftertouch, mod wheel and keyboard tracking plus a three‑slot effects section hosting 16 effects types. But perhaps the biggest differences are revealed when you open the Advanced panel. Omissions include oscillator sync, the channel link button, the 24dB/oct filter option, the LPF on/off and HPF contour on/off switches, and the delay unit on the performance panel. Another major change is the inclusion of a Voice Dispersion panel that allows you to program the amounts by which various characteristics of each voice differ from those of the others. Additions include simultaneous triangle and sawtooth waves, PWM/MIDI sync, the LFO and aftertouch directed to pan, an extended selection of Tone Selectors that more closely model the original synth, plus additional LFO parameters and an improved arpeggiator. In With The Old.ĬS‑80 V4 looks fresher and brighter than its predecessors and includes several changes to the facilities previously offered. Consequently, there’s no way to review all of the Collection in anything short of a book, so I’ll concentrate on its major updates and new synths, starting with four heavily revised instruments. make that 33 instruments if you include Analog Lab V, which provides a simpler way to access the sounds of every instrument and build duo‑timbral mixes of any two of them. But Arturia seem to have an endless appetite for creating soft thingies, and V Collection 9 now includes 32 software instruments, some new, some revised and others as before, plus a library of 14,000 sounds. By 2020, the Collection had reached version 8 and comprised no fewer than 28 instruments including emulations of vintage analogue synths, digital synths and samplers, acoustic and electric pianos, organs, a string synth, and even the Mellotron. Following this, the company didn’t revisit the concept until 2010 when the renamed V Collection 2 was launched, adding the Jup‑8 V and Prophet V to the previous offering. Conversely, Analog Lab 2 is a powerful yet painless way of accessing a broad selection of sounds from across V Collection 5 within a single application.Arturia’s mighty V Collection continues to grow and improve.Īrturia’s V Collection was presaged in 2005 when the company took four soft synths - the ARP 2600 V, CS‑80 V, Minimoog V and Modular V - and bundled them together for a limited period into a single purchase called the Vintage Collection Pack. As does AU, AAX, VST2, and VST3 compatibility, standalone operation, plus MIDI Learn (to easily map all parameters to a MIDI CC).Ĭontinuing Arturia’s quest for absolute authenticity through TAE® (True Analog Emulation), physical modelling, and additional technologies, anyone prepared to dig deep into V Collection 5’s treasure trove of hard-to-source synth and classic keyboard recreations will be musically rewarded in kind. All are updated with resizable (Retina/4K-compatible) GUIs that truly have to be seen to be believed! But digging deeper, Native Instruments’ new NKS® (NATIVE KONTROL STANDARD) - allowing advanced integration with third-party software instruments - naturally features across the board. The 12 remaining virtual instruments in V Collection 5 - ARP 2600 V, CS-80V, JUP-8V, Matrix-12 V, Mini V, Modular V, Prophet V, and SEM V analogue synthesizers Prophet VS digital synthesizer Wurli V electric piano VOX Continental V electronic organ and Solina V string machine - do just that, too. Put it like this: thinking about all those thousands of new sounds and styles in V Collection 5 that are available at the touch of a (virtual) button beggars belief, but Arturia’s aim is true… to create the tools that lend a helping hand to today’s musicians, taking inspiration from the past to (re)invent the music of tomorrow. At an attractive monetary level, it’s a nobrainer ! Bringing something special to the 21st Century performance and production table, five all-new authentic sounding additions lead this latest V Collection charge. With no fewer than 17 virtual instruments that recreate hard-to-source synthesizers and classic keyboards, V Collection 5 represents really remarkable value on many musical levels. The 11-round magazine is shipped with an extended finger hook base pad in place, but FN also includes a flush basepad, seen here installed. While chambered in 9mm, and sporting a polymer frame, the Reflex is not a striker-fired pistol but rather a single-action-only gun with an internal hammer. There is no price difference between colors, but MRD models are $60 more. You have your choice of black or FDE pistols, and ones just with iron sights or MRD models (MRD stands for Mini Red Dot and means the slide is optics ready). If the “class” only includes FN pistols, then it is definitely true. I wouldn’t say that, but it is definitely better than most of the sub- and micro-compact trigger pulls on the market. FN says the Reflex has a “Best-in-Class” trigger. FYI: this is the exact same reason why Series ‘80 1911 trigger systems (with a firing pin safety) are inferior in pull quality to the original 1911 design. What added a bit of mushiness was the firing pin safety inside the slide, that the trigger bar had to push up out of the way before the hammer could fall. Once I removed the slide and pulled the trigger a few times, to get a look at the hammer both forward and back (stopping it with my thumb so it didn’t impact the frame), I realized that the single action trigger system itself had a very crisp break. It was not as crisp as a traditional SAO trigger pull (1911, etc.) but it was lighter and a bit crisper than the trigger pull of the average striker-fired gun, and much better than the average FN pistol trigger.Ī brief aside on the trigger system. The trigger pull weight on my sample clocked in right at 5.0-lbs. FN’s spec for the Reflex’s single-action trigger pull is 4.5–5.5-lbs, and I’m happy to say that’s accurate. The FN 509 which won the LAPD contract has a different, lighter trigger pull/system that is starting to find its way to commercial Edge models. When I tested FN’s new 509C (Compact) in 2019 (which is much bigger than the Reflex in every dimension, and heavier, while holding fewer rounds), it officially had a trigger pull of 5.75 pounds, and my sample (as did most of them) had a trigger pull that came in a full pound over the spec, and you feel every ounce. The heavy trigger pulls of FN pistols in general, and their 509 in particular, have turned a lot of people away from the design-and also sent a lot of business toward Apex Tactical, whose Action Enhancement Kit brings the 509’s trigger pull down to 5.5-lbs (which, honestly, is where it should be to begin with). Seriously, before I veer away into the other details, let me talk about that. Tarr thought his thumb might prevent the slide stop from working properly while shooting, but never had a problem. There’s only so much room on a small gun. This single-action-only (SAO) trigger system provides for a vastly improved trigger pull, at least when compared to FN’s larger pistols, and tells me that FN was serious about producing a gun that was a shooter. Instead, this pistol has a single-action-only operating system, with an internal hammer. It has a polymer frame, but hold on-one of the very interesting things about this pistol is that it is not striker-fired. Yes, they have neutered 10-round magazines for those of you living in low-T states. One 11-round magazine that ships with extended finger hook base pad in place (although they provide a flush basepad for it), and one extended 15-round magazine. It has a 3.3-inch barrel, and each pistol comes with two magazines. First, the details-this is a micro compact pistol only available chambered in 9mm. There are quite a few things about it which surprised me, and in a good way. FN America might be a bit on the tardy side when it comes to introducing a micro compact pistol, but I am happy to say that the new FN Reflex ccw pistol is not a retread of competing designs. There are some new revolutionary IOL in the making like the adaptive Juvene IOL.ĭiffractive Optics uses diffraction of the light waves to distribute light. Gosh, one last bit of advice, if you can still correct your vision to be “Decent” enough, my advice is procrastinate as long as possible. It is your job to understand these tradeoffs as best as you can and decide what is most important to your lifestyle. I guess he is saying minor PCO can affect light getting through and if that light is already reduced ……īottom line there is no Perfect IOL. He was talking about how even minor PCO can be worse for someone with PanOptics, due to the light splitting. That reminds me of something I recently hear a doctor mention on that subject. I am hoping the Synergy allows more light through. What bothers me more is just how dark things are in low light. My dysphotopsias are not horrible and I am fine with them for the close vision tradeoff. I KNOW, DAMN SAD!!!! But that is the way it is. And that is the scary part as everyone is different and you just don’t know how bad or not bad it will be until after you get the IOL. Of course with all defractive IOL, comes more dysphotopsias than a monofocal. But to do serious reading like read a book I need readers and good light. With the MF I got functional close vision which is what I was shooting for, which means I can find the sweet spot and read a label or a menu at a restaurant. And I am a bit of health nut that reads the labels on canned goods. No matter how many pairs I had I still never had one when I needed it. When I started to get presbyopia, I hated having to carry readers with me everywhere. Well I guess there is also the Symfony plus, but good luck in getting information on that one.Ī variety of reasons. Synergy is the latest and greatest defractive IOL from Tecnis. It is also supposed to do well for a light splitting IOL in dim light. IMHO the IOL material was better than Restor and it did not have as much dim light issues.įast Forward, I am now looking at implanting the Tecnis Synergy IOL in my right eye, which is a combination of EDOF and MF, which “supposedly” give the best Vision throughout the defocus curve. Based on my research it was the best defractive IOL available at that time. I got the MF about 5 years ago, shortly after it was approved and available in the US. I have the Tecnis low-add MF in my left eye and my right eye cataract is so bad I cannot even see 20/200. “How is your vision current without cataract” Most people will do fine with that amount of monovision and it will at least give you some close up vision. Maybe doing micro /mini monovision of -1.0D in your non dominate eye. If you are leaning towards Eyhance, I would suggest you also look at monovision. For me I am going high risk and planning on gettting the defractive Synergy IOL. So it all comes down to what is important to you and how much risk you are willing to take. But having said that if you get the same results of a monofocal in the areas of Contrast Sensitivity, no light splitting, and dysphotopsias and gain almost a line, then well worth it. Unless you are a statistical rarity, you are not getting "Great" close vision with this IOL. Eyhance only give you the slightest improvement in close vision. In fact I think if it pans out long term it could become the new Monofocal. Vivity and RayOne EMV would also fall into this category.įrom what I have read Tecnis Eyhance is probably the least risky of any of the Refractive EDOF IOL. Well Eyhance's EDOF is so slight it might not even count as an EDOF IOL. Tecnis Eyhance is a newer IOL in the category of Enhanced Monofocal in that they are Refractive IOLs that provide some EDOF. The Tecnis monofocal is by far the safest and the true and tested option. Fortunately I've always been pretty fast at learning new software, but Cubase is just a little more complex when you look at it. In fact one thing I'm noticing so far is how detailed you can customize so much. However, after digging around today, I discovered how to find these things and customize the views. When I ran the demo last year, I was really frustrated because I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to set up an aux send, and I didn't understand why it would be so difficult or unintuitive. I'm used to seeing all my inserts, sends, and routing in one place. The mixer pane is just laid out a bit differently, by default anyway. Logic doesn't quite have or touch any of that. It seems also making time signature and tempo changes is fairly easy. Using the pencil tool you can just draw in regions at your desired length and velocity is super easy to tweak. The filter/search abilities on basically everything is a game changer. Really digging how each track can have channel strips of easily accessible tools (and an envelope shaper!), rather than inserts. Been playing around all today and enjoying a lot of interesting things which we don't have in Logic. Oh well, I had been eyeing Steinberg for a Cubase sale for awhile now, and I had already bought the Pro crossgrade yesterday. Really excited to play around with the midi and scoring tools!Ĭlick to expand.Fair. Even if I don't fully move over to Cubase full-time, it will be nice to learn it and have in my toolkit. Unfortunately the demo expired before I had a chance to dig deeper, however the crossgrade from best service is a great deal so I'm gonna bite the bullet. However I didn't care so much for the mixer pane, but I told myself I just need more time with it, since the layout and terms are a bit different from what I'm used to. There were several nice things which I could finish in way fewer steps than other DAWs. I demo'ed Cubase last year and was really into the midi editor, the track organization (and search/filter functions), a nicer and more intuitive score editor, among other things. However, there's been a lot of features that are still missing which drives me crazy. I've been a long-time Logic user (also have used Ableton and Pro Tools in the past, and I still do for certain projects, though Logic has been my primary DAW for composition). In addition, you can change the Finder label, the file lock, or remove invisible files. The Skills 2.0 update introduced Risk of Rain 2 challenges which unlock new skills and skins for Survivors (at least on PC - theyre coming to consoles this winter). And, later, during a non-stop battle with trolls, you can use Drizzt, which is easily the funniest level. It keeps from getting tedious because of the separate skills and all the items and spells you can add to the characters. You travel around as all three characters, switching at advantageous moments between the three, while battling seemingly endless hordes of enemies. The basic layout of the game is very similar to a beat-em up. With the help of a Khelben, a wizard who was witness to the original war, the heroes learn what is needed to destroy these creatures, and travel all over the Realms to achieve this goal. These two demonic beings, at war within the crystal, continue the war that had had them sealed inside of it, and this war threatens to swallow the lands in destruction. The story itself follows Rannek, Illius, and Zhai as they battle to save the Realms from two creatures released from the shattered Demon Stone. Salvatore wrote the story surrounding the three main characters in Demon Stone, and even brings in his most legendary character: Drizzt Do'Urden. Salvatore, two power house fantasy writers. Most of the statistical arithmetic that drives the combat system is applied behind the scenes. Demon Stone is designed to call on the diverse abilities of each of these three characters, so using the right hero for the right job is an important part of play.Ĭharacters gain experience and new abilities as they progress through the adventure, but Demon Stone players won't spend as much time number-crunching as they might in other AD&D games. These characters represent the fundamental AD&D archetypes: the burly fighter, who can take at least as much punishment as he dishes out, the agile rogue, who can pick locks and sneak about for surprise attacks, and the resourceful sorcerer, who specializes in a variety of ranged combat spells. The player directly controls one of the three characters and can switch between them at nearly any time. Now the noble characters are honor-bound to make amends, and banish the demons from Faerûnonce more. By accidentally meddling in an age-old feud between two powerful, demonic hordes, the player's characters have allowed both abysmal armies into our plane of existence. Players guide three distinct heroes through the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons lands known as the Forgotten Realms, to correct a mistake and perhaps save the world in the process. |
